THE POST HOLDER WILL BE REQUIRED TO:
  • Provide technical support for Pulmonology services at FUH and ensure optimal clinical care and safety of patients.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team with a personalized and caring attitude.
  • Participate in public health awareness initiatives.
  • Participate in training programs as required.

Responsibilities FOLLOWING THOROUGH, COMPREHENSIVE AND HOLISTIC APPROACH HE/SHE CARRIES OUT PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTS ON PATIENTS WITH RESPIRATORY DISEASES OR DISORDERS, AS PART OF A CLINICAL MANAGEMENT TEAM UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE REFERRING PULMONOLOGIST. PROVIDES TECHNICAL ADVICE AND SURVEILLANCE ON PATIENTS REQUIRING ASSISTED VENTILATION.
THIS INCLUDES ENSURING OPTIMAL FUNCTION OF ALL ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. MALFUNCTIONS SHALL BE REPORTED TO THE BIOMEDICAL TEAM IN A TIMELY FASHION.
MONITOR’S A PATIENT’S PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSE TO THERAPY AND CONSULTS WITH THE MRP (MOST RESPONSIBLE PHYSICIAN) AT ALL TIMES.
CARRIES OUT BRONCHOPULMONARY DRAINAGE AS REQUIRED AND INSTRUCT STAFFS, PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES IN PERFORMING BREATHING EXERCISES.
ENSURES CONSISTENT, ACCURATE AND DETAILED DOCUMENTATION OF PATIENT ENCOUNTERS AS PER POLICY. REVIEWS WITH THE LEAD PULMONOLOGIST, ADVERSE EVENTS, PROBLEM INCIDENTS AND COMPLAINTS, AND EXPLORES ALL OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF CARE AND PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING RISK MANAGEMENT. PARTICIPATES IN A QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM FOR PULMONOLOGY SERVICES AND MONITORS KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS ASSISTS THE LEAD PULMONOLOGIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF BEST PRACTICE GUIDELINES AND PROTOCOLS.   • Batchelor Degree (BSc) in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience
Knowledge/Technical Skills:
  • ACLS, PALS provider
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Good time-management skills
  • Strong customer service ethic
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
